Speaker of the Interim Legislature Mr. Subash Chandra Nembwang on January 28, 2008, released a documentary entitled 'Simikot-Hilsa Tourist Route: Gateway to Kailash and Mansarovar'. The documentary was produced by District Development Committee, Humla, to promote the Simikot-Hilsa route as the gateway to the Kailash and Mansarovar area of the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China.
Releasing the documentary, Mr. Nembwang highlighted the tourism richness of the country and emphasized on the need of necessary infrastructures. 'Tourism richness of the area are awaiting effective promotion in national and international markets,' Mr. Nembwang said.
The documentary, running around 30 minutes, follows a group of trekkers from district headquarters Simikot all the way to Kailash and Mansarovar. Apart from promoting the tourism attractions lying on the route, the documentary also provides information on camping sites, distance between the two camps, altitude gain and loss, and hotels available on the route etc.Â
Interim Legislator from Humla district Mr. Gorakh Bahadur Bogati said that the district was laying emphasis on the construction of road from Simiko to Hilsa.
The programme saw the encouraging presence of people hailing from the district and some tourism professionals.
